After a 20 year career in major labels, Rodney Hewson is now freelancing in all areas of the music industry.  He managed ‘The Exponents’ during the dizzy heights of the band’s success in the early nineties and through his association with Polygram records, their South Island sales rep.  He headed North in 1994 to become Key Accounts Manager for that company.  In 1996 he moved to Head of Promotions for Sony Music and stayed with that company for 15 years in various roles including label management strategic marketing, local artist marketing and A&R.

During his Sony tenure, Rodney worked closely with Sony’s stable of artists including Bic Runga, Dave Dobbyn,  Che Fu and Brooke Fraser and many successful NZ Music projects, Eg Nature’s Best music and DVD compilations.

Rodney has an extensive knowledge of the music business and has built a reputation around being honest and true to his word.

He presently represents NZ gem Anika Moa, a young up- and-coming artist, Jesse Sheehan, and still works with The Exponents in areas of their business affairs.

Rodney Hewson and Lorraine Barry also work together in artist mentoring, project and event management, tour management, marketing and publicity
